Mrs. Meier's Class Notes for Friday, September 1, 2006
NEW CLASS WEBSITE BLOG:
*****Find us at www.hoppyclass.blogspot.com*****
There you will see pictures of your child and his/her classmates.
I will take pictures of events peridiocally throughout the year and post them there. You may also leave your comments on this site. I will also try to post the weekly note there, if it works out. This note is on there now.
THERE'S SOMETHING FISHY GOIN ON!
PetCo has a special program for 4th and 5th grade classes. Each PetCo store donates an aquarium package to one 4th gr. and one 5th gr. class. We are the lucky 4th gr. class for the PetCo on Rock Rd.!
They will be coming in on Friday and showing the children how to set up an aquarium, tips for caring for it, and information about the fish. How exciting! Now, they do set us up with a basic aquarium kit and a few fish, but we could use more to fill it. If you have used aquarium plants, supplies, etc, that you would like to donate to our class aquarium, or if you would like to donate a cash gift to help us, you could earn FWC for the value of your donation.
MONTHLY CLASS CALENDAR
Enclosed you will find a class calendar which will list all tests and quizzes for the month as well as other helpful information and events. I encourage you to post this somewhere that you and your child can monitor.
A Bible memory verse sheet has NOT been issued to your child.
Each week, your child's penmanship test will be to look up and write the next week's Bible verse from his/her Bible. We like them to see that these verses are actually found in the Bible, and not just something made up by us!
This weekly Penmanship test YOU MAY KEEP AT HOME for studying purposes. (All other tests & quizzes must be signed & returned.)
FWC OPPORTUNITIES
I am still in need of Verse Listeners on Friday mornings. A "Verse Listener" is a parent who would come in on Fridays from 8:00 to 8:30 and listen to students recite the week's Bible verses and record a grade.
If I could get a couple people to sign up, these 2 people could alternate weeks. You would receive 30 min. FWC credit each time. The FWC opportunities list and the class parties lists are still posted in our hallway just outside of our class door. If you are interested, there are still several slots on each.
OUR PARENT ORIENTATION WILL BE TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12.
There will be 2 sessions, both identical, so you need only attend one.
Session I is from 6:30 - 7:15 or Session II is from 7:20 - 8:00. This will give you a chance to visit more than one class meeting if you have more than one child. Please make plans to attend one of these meetings in our classroom. No children please, this is a parents-only meeting, thanks.
I realize 4th grade is different than what you might be used to. We are trying to instill personal responsibility and independence into our 4th graders to better prepare them for Jr. High. (Yes! It's coming up quickly!) Please encourage your child in this way at home also.
For Him,
Cheryl Meier
